Robert Caputo has been writing and photographing stories in Africa, Asia, and South America for National Geographic since 1980. He wrote, appeared in, and narrated an Explorer Television Documentary about his journey up the Congo River. He has taught workships and lectured and had photography shows in the U.S. and Europe. Robert also wrote the story and was the associate producer of the TNT original film "Glory and Honor." He lives with his wife, documentary film producer Amy Flynn, and their two children in Washington D.C.

Stephanie Elizaondo Griest, winner of the Gold Prize in the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism competition, graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1997 from the University of Texas at Austin in Journalism and Post-Soviet Studies. SHe served as a Henry Luce Scholar in Beijing and as a Scotty Reston Fellow at the New York Times. Griest's wanderlust has taken her to 21 countries in four years.
